Busy busy.

This was one of the most packed weekend i have had in recent memory. And i am really exhausted! In desperate need of more time to do everything in general! but though tiring, it leaves one feeling very satisfied and happy :) after days like this, u can just sink into bed feeling happy and contented all ready to enter dreamland.. :)

now its so late, but since i have not blogged in a week, i shall proceed!

by the way, tt opening paragraph was for another post, but i realize tt i've uploaded a whole other bunch of photos yet, have not written a post.. so i decided to do transference! :p

so 2 weeks ago, we watched this movie, Control. it was a film abt Ian Curtis, and how he lost control of his life, and finally gained control in the end thru suicide. well, at least that is my interpretation of the film, in a few short lines. i'm not sure that most of you would agree with tt, but personally, that's what i feel. maybe its my own beliefs in a certain sense.

anws, we watched the film under the most excruciatingly painful conditions. the air conditioning in the substation was not functioning, and the damn chairs were so closely packed that when the person in front so much as sits with his back on the chair, yr knees feel the heat.

after the film, we went to clarke quay for dinner.. and since everyone wanted to watch the band at the pump room, we simply had dinner there. the food was not good, and it was damn pricey. as such i felt it didn't warrant a picture. haha.

the band however, was fantastic. they sang so well.. and a wide variety of easily identifiable songs. everyone was having a great time.. and it was really funny when the lead singer called out for requests. there were 2 guys having their bday, and a girl having her hen party. and boy was it a riot on stage. and so the hen had whip cream to lick of a spanish (i think) guy's chest, and a banana to eat off the chinese 28yo virgin's pants. yes, the banana was sticking out like something else.. i dunno how the hell they managed to make it stand tt way. its so sad tt i failed to take picture of the hen, she was dressed like ugly betty and sure looked the part. hilarious stuff!


yes, and 2 weeks ago, i also happened to be at SGH. and the nice view from the tutorial room.. the blinds had always been drawn. only after my hyperactive fingers decide to pull the blinds away one day did i see this nice view.. :)

and this is the buffet from honjin. we decided to make use of the UOB offer.. hmmm, it was still quite ex, considering that the variety is not tt good.. i was kinda disappointed actually, but at least the food was quite fresh.. :) the octopus all went to me, and mind u, it was not just one plate of sashimi.. but i love octopus. its so nice and chewy! :D

the beef cubes were good, i liked this a lot. somehow, japs do this dish quite well

and the tempura prawns, which ty was supposed to eat 48 of, but failed. duh!

these are some of the other food around SGH tt we had. gosh, am i setting up a food blog now. shit, my life is slowly revolving around food now adays. better stop the food pictures soon.

so anw, we were at claire's place early one day, cuz there are just no freaking psy patients in SGH. and we were trying to decide on a lunch place, and ta dah, the TV gave us a sign. they introduced this stall, in chinatown, which was so nearby, so we headed down..

this beef noodles is quite good. it had such a good mix of different ingredients. though i think, i like the sliced beef the most for sure! the dry one has really interesting ingredients like peanuts on it.

then this is the yong tau hu with a damn long queue at chinatown complex. but boy it was certainly worth the wait! the soup is so delicious and the home made fish cake is excellent as well. and of course, the ikan bilis. i love ikan bilis. you guys must try this if u ever go to chinatown complex. highly recommended for a cheap price of $3.. :)

last part.. we were at vivo because... ... i can't remember. oh, because i wanted to repair my phone. yes, i think so.. but sick of all the food in vivo, we went to haborfront to have spizza. yes, the calamari rings are great!! :) but more the sauce than the rings. i still think prego's rings are one of the best

and the pizza. just felt like posting the picture cuz i like how green those leaves are!

but yes, the pizza here is still as good tasting as ever. the super thin crust and the topping tt just go so well together. mmm :) and the service is great. ever so friendly.

and lastly, this lousy thing at delifrance. its a crepe suzette. i was trying to use up some vouchers. mind u, delifrance bistro is really awful now adays. dun go back there. terrible place! tsk!

Rest

the past few days have been excellent. i'm totally getting into the holiday groove! been ponning a lot, which explains my early day home today. but yeah, the 4 day long weekend is so therapeutic. the bright cheery sun, though scorching, makes everything seem so much happier. you just feel like shouting out loud and jumping for joy. its excellent :)

now, i shall attempt to catch up on my posts before the real holidays start when i'd be happily flying away from singapore! not to say tt i've not been enjoying myself here, cuz i have been. more so recently for sure.

so this dinner was at Ma Maison's at clarke quay. was for alwyn's bday. boy, it was a torture navigating the roads. kat was so traumatized sitting in my car i think. lol. didn't help he was having a tummyache already (before meeting me of course!!)

the place has really interesting decor, though i didn't quite take tt many photos.



the food is a mix of japanese and western, some sort of fusion food. well, i chose tt cuz the bday boy was being silly, wanting jap, but not being able to commit (typical), changing his mind to western and goodness knows what. so fusion, i decided was the way to go! haha.

so this was my steak patty. it was good, the patty was tender and the JUICY! and there are 2 types of beef (i think), cuz there was some sort of minced pieces of beef sprinkled around the patty. absolutely tasty :D

this was another beef dish, with butter rice in an omelette.

the butter rice inside was really yummy, and the beef was not bad as well!

this was what kat ordered since he wanted none of the heavy stuff for his poor churning tummy. i didn't get to try it though..
and the greediest person ordered what looked like the most filling dish. i hate pork chop, and i hate fried pork chop even more. haha. so nope, i didn't try it.

the sauces tt came with it though, looked quite appetizing. and there was mustard!!

yup, so tt dinner was eons ago, and so much has happened since, but since the other photos are still on my camera, i shall just proceed to those taken with my phone. this was dinner at Da Paolo. i had squid ink pasta with king prawns. and i must say, the food there has never disappointed. the pasta is done just right (al dente if u insist on saying it), and the prawn juices just seep into the pasta, infusing them with a delightful taste. the prawns themselves were springy and wholesome. the ink from the pasta doesn't run! more than what i can say about quite a few places, and its not very costly either!

i didn't take pictures of my parents' meals, they didn't look as impressive. haha. but my dessert was quite unique. its whipped and warmed egg yolks, served with some chopped fruits in a glass. the mixture produces quite a interesting taste, something i can't quite describe. its something sweet, yet you know how proteins can't really be sweet. and then with the fruits thrown in. haha. yup.

and then, on veska day. i travelled all the way to yio chu kang for tennis, and the sun was just scorching. as shi was commenting, are we playing on glass? the court is so shiny and fast. the heat just saps away any energy you have man. but its quite interesting play on such fast courts, and i would love to go back another day, when its less hot of course and see how i fare on them.. ;)

we had our lunch at this place called Naked Fish (Sth). its actually a halal place, and we only got there after much bek chek-ing. tsktsk. sigh. shi settled on a stingray, whilst i shared a Mediterranean sth with gary. it was quite worth it and it had a wide variety of items. there were prawns, mussels, scallops, dory, the pregnant fish, some other stuff and butter rice topped with a huge dollop of melted cheese. mmm.

last few photos for today! this was taken at a lunch i had at this nice little cafe called The Coffee Showcase at East Coast Road. its really value for money. a drink + cake + soup and a main course, all for the price of food + $3.50. ok, i actually topped up to get this drink. but still, damn cheap, think it was about $12 without the drink!

this is the chocolate banana milkshake. can taste the real bananas and i love the generous dollop of cream. haha. the other drinks look really good as well :D and its a lot of drink.

oh, i didn't take a picture of the soup, but it was corn soup. normal-ish, which is good cuz soup tt comes with set lunches can be real awful. so this was my main course which i was so glad to have. mutton chops. 3 huge mutton chops for 8.70 with really nice wedges. the mutton chops are not those lousy skinny bony anorexic sort, but really chunky and meaty ones, with the thin silver of fats. fantastic!
and my cake was the lychee martini cake. quite creamy (which i like), with bits of lychee in all the layers of cream. it tasted very good. and i must say, i was really impressed with the whole meal. value for money and good. with good service as well.


the steak was not bad as well, and it was quite huge. too bad i didn't get a photo of it. but they didn't have the hazelnut crunch cake, which is supposed to be really good. but definitely, i'd return to try it one day.. :)

???!

am at claire's house now because the clinics are full! sgh is lousy, there is like only one clinic a day or sth.. bah. could've slept in!

anw, these were the other photos that were uploaded previously.. :) a dinner at the gurka palace or sth like tt. it is cheap and relatively good northern indian food, in little india of course. the land of pple walking along the roads like cars aren't supposed to be on them. hmmm.

anw, did u notice tt aud's eyes are bigger? the secret = fake eyelashes. haha

i love naans :) esp butter and garlic ones. haha


this was a dessert tt mich was so adamant for us to try. well, i didn't find it tt good, but apparently its cuz its home made or sth, so sometimes, its different.

after dinner, we headed down to marina bay to have a go on the singapore flyer because we had some free coupons! :)


the whole complex itself was very nice. many many restaurants with plenty of greenery - the singapore way of life.

the view is quite good, but not really spectacular.. i mean, how many times can u see the same skyline? ;)



the purpose of this photo according to mich, who forced me to take it, was to show that we were at the top of singapore flyer. well, sort of.. i guess.



well, i think that if i had to pay the full amount for this ride, it wouldn't have been very worth it. the time really passes so fast, and yeah the view is quite the same most of the time :p but yeah, at least i managed to go on it while its still the tallest in the world!!

ok, this was another random afternoon, where we headed down to marina at keppel bay! we didn't have lunch with the girls there, but joined them there to check out the place!










as you can see, the place is quite a quiet and tranquil place with a very good resort and high life kinda feel. i think it'd have looked fantastic if the sun were brighter.. would be so nice to live in one of those flats just across the bay.. well, maybe next time! :)

well, i dun have the rest of the food pix, but the food there is quite good for supper i must say.. and the service is good. gogogo eat!
